CQ, CQ, CQ, as a former ham, I am glad someone is keeping the old gear alive. 73 :rose:

Re: Old Ham radios collection - Somewhat EMP Proof?
Sadly only a matter of time before the Ham frequencys are sold to the highest bidder.

Re: Old Ham radios collection - Somewhat EMP Proof?
RMac if you are asking about EMP sensitivity, tube radios are FAR more resistant, as I understand it. However if the radios have any solid state components, they are vulnerable.
The disadvantage of tube-based radios is that they use much more power, but it could be useful to have one or more on hand. |

Re: Old Ham radios collection - Somewhat EMP Proof?
Buy a good radio, put it in a metal box, weld it shut, ground it, and wait until AFTER the EMP attacks to open the box.

Re: Old Ham radios collection - Somewhat EMP Proof?
Halicrafters, great ham gear. Own it at one time. Keep that piece, Master Mac, it will become a collector item. :bull-buddy-icon:
